Drip Tips — What They Are and How to Choose OneUpdated 15 days ago
What Is a Drip Tip?
A drip tip is the mouthpiece of your vape device — the part you put to your lips and inhale from. While the stock drip tip that comes with your tank or pod works fine, many vapers upgrade to aftermarket drip tips for better comfort, aesthetics, or performance.
Drip Tip Sizing — 510 vs. 810
The two standard drip tip sizes are 510 and 810:
- 510 drip tips: Narrower diameter. Standard on most mouth-to-lung tanks and older devices. Produces a tighter, more focused draw.
- 810 drip tips: Wider diameter. Standard on most sub-ohm tanks and direct-lung devices. Allows more airflow for bigger draws and cloud production.
Most aftermarket drip tips specify which size they fit. Check your tank's compatibility before purchasing.
Materials
- Delrin (acetal): A heat-resistant plastic. Doesn't conduct heat so it stays cool even during extended sessions. Very popular and practical.
- Resin: Beautiful swirled patterns. Heat resistant and comfortable. A popular upgrade choice.
- Stainless steel: Durable and premium looking. Can get warm during heavy use.
- Glass: Smooth, clean taste. Fragile but some vapers prefer the feel.
- Silicone/rubber: Very comfortable and heat-resistant. Easy to clean.
Shape and Length
- Short and wide: More airflow, better for cloud chasing.
- Tall and narrow: More concentrated vapor, better for flavor.
- Angled/bent: Ergonomically comfortable for many vapers, especially with larger mods.
