What Is a Herbal Vaporizer?

A herbal vaporizer is a device designed to heat dry herb or wax concentrates to a temperature that produces vapor without combustion — meaning without burning. This is distinct from e-cigarettes and vape mods, which use liquid e-juice. Herbal vaporizers use the actual plant material or concentrate directly.

How Herbal Vaporizers Work

Two main heating methods are used in herbal vaporizers:

Conduction Heating

The herb or concentrate makes direct contact with a heated surface (usually a ceramic or metal chamber). Heats quickly but can produce uneven vaporization and requires stirring during sessions.

Convection Heating

Hot air passes through the herb to vaporize it without direct contact. More even vaporization, better flavor, but typically slower to heat and more expensive. Considered the premium approach for dry herb.
