<p>Freebase nicotine is the traditional form of nicotine used in most e-liquids. It&apos;s in its purest form and has been used since the early days of vaping. At higher concentrations (above 12mg), freebase nicotine produces a harsh throat hit that most vapers find uncomfortable.</p>

Nicotine Salts vs. Freebase Nicotine — What's the Difference?

E-liquid not tasting the way you expected? Learn the most common reasons flavor can be off and how to fix each one.

<h2 id="vapers-tongue">Vaper&apos;s Tongue</h2>
<p>Vaper&apos;s tongue is when you can no longer taste your e-liquid after vaping the same flavor repeatedly. Your taste receptors simply become desensitized to a flavor they&apos;ve been exposed to constantly.</p>
<p><strong>Fix:</strong> Switch to a completely different flavor for a few days, drink more water, or try smelling fresh coffee grounds to reset your palate. Your taste will return.</p>
<h2 id="flavor-ghosting">Flavor Ghosting</h2>
<p>If your previous e-liquid flavor is bleeding into your new one, this is called ghosting. It happens when the tank or coil hasn&apos;t been properly cleaned between flavor changes.</p>
<p><strong>Fix:</strong> Replace the coil and clean the tank thoroughly before switching flavors. Even with cleaning, some very strong flavors (menthol, cinnamon) can linger in coils.</p>
